Household Debt to Annual Disposable Income
The Reserve Bank of Australia releases a variety of statistics regarding the level of consumer indebtedness. The most often quoted is the level of household debt compared to annual disposable income:

As at September 2009, Australian households are indebted at 155% of their disposable income. Five years ago that ratio was 125% and ten years ago it was only 81%. In other statistics compiled by the Reserve bank it reveals that credit card debt is $45.1 billion at September 2009. Five years ago it was $24 billion and ten years ago it was only $9 billion.
